Media Onboard comes to France!

Media OnBoard comes to FranceFor couple of years now we have seen French film crews renting a van, taking a Calais-Dover shuttle and drive to Heathrow (yes, London Heathrow) to board an international flight to Asia or Middle East. Strange and slightly convoluted way, especially when there are plenty of direct flights from Paris.

Apparently not when you travel with excess baggage. The “convoluted” way turns out to be cheaper, even if the time spent on a road and crew expenses (not to mention the aggravation!) is also taken into account – all due to prohibitively high excess baggage charges imposed by some airlines in France.

Media Onboard comes to rescue – we now have office in Paris and the service is soon becoming available from Paris Charles de Gaulle, Nice, Marseille and other French airports. Sylvain De Campos is now looking after Media Onboard operation in France. Sylvain says: “ I am delighted to run Media Onboard service in France and looking forward to help media and TV production companies with their logistics requirements however complex they might be.”

Ray Wood, Business Development Manager, Lufthansa Cargo UK adds: “We are pleased to roll this product into French market and offer this unique service for Lufthansa customers.”

Swiss Airlines and Air Canada joined Media Onboard scheme…
Media Onboard service is now offered by Swiss and Air Canada from the UK who recently joined the scheme. Marina Lyons, Manager, Media Onboard UK comments: “ We are delighted for 2 more Star Alliance Airlines to join the service as we now able to offer more destinations to our customers where they can save money on excess baggage. The service is fully intergrated and includes standard service features like “meet and assist” at the airport, security of i-TRAK, and streamlined payment procedure.” Air Canada routes are very popular with BBC Natural History Wildlife programme, as well as independent documentary-makers.  Jeremy Clarkson and his TOP GEAR team were the first to use Media Onboard service on  Air Canada when they had to travel for filming to Resolut Bay.  Swiss International offer extensive route network in Africa, which is always popular with film-makers.

Media Onboard passengers benefit from an additional security of I-trak, an technologically integrated airline tracking baggage tags…

i-trakWe all know how frustrating it is when our luggage goes missing.
This frustration is becoming a real nightmare when professional equipment gets mishandled. This often means filming delays or even failed filming commissions.

Media Onboard is dedicated to the security and safe arrival of your equipment, and that is why we have invested in i-TRAK technically integrated airline compatible tracking tags for all of our customers.
Taking the possibility and grim consequences of mishandling or misplacing the equipment very seriously, we have introduced I-trak technologically integrated labels for Media Onboard equipment.i-TRAK labels can be scanned or read by any airline in the world. The labels are registered via internet and, if lost, can be re-united with their rightful owner by simple text message or email. The labels are useful when heavily used rental equipment still might have tags or airline stickers with the details of the past trips. i-TRAK labels can also be used for passports, mobile phones, hand-cameras and any other items.
I-TRAK labels are now supplied for every single item booked with Media Onboard service, and it comes FREE as part of the service! I-TRAK labels are available for purchase for personal luggage and valuable items via www.i-TRAK.com

Media Onboard offers a handling solution ensuring a fast and cost-effective transportation of satellite equipment for larger volumes and pieces over 32kg.

SatelliteWe are often asked to transport specialist equipment that is heavy or bulky and requires specialist handling like edit kit, satellite dishes or specialist effect broadcasting equipment. Working together with Lufthansa cargo, we have come up with a solution that allows transportation of any items over 32kg on the same plane as the passenger and guarantees the equipment delivery within 1-2 hours of aircraft arrival.

Adam Burman and his team from Fulcrum TV used this service when transporting special-effects camera equipment and edit kit to help them to set up a live broadcast studio for Discovery Channel Egypt Week. The project was run on an extremely tight schedule, in the middle of the Ramadan week, yet Media Onboard delivered all the equipment in a matter of hours. The service saved Fulcrum Productions over £10,000 .

Luggage LabelWe would like to take this opportunity to remind all our customers of the "32kg maximum weight per piece" BAA airport regulations, and the importance of checking equipment lists for any items over this weight as those can not be taken via BAA passenger terminals.
